Located in Pomona , New York, and serving the surrounding Rockland County area, is Advanced Roofing and Contracting Corp. Advanced Roofing is a small 1-3 man contractor engaged predominantly in the residential re-roofing market. With over 25 years in the roofing business, Advanced Roofing should have a good idea of how to solve most of the problems associated with both old and new building exteriors from the gutter line to the roof peak.
Advanced is capable of completing both large roofing jobs, like this sprawling Victorian with Grand Manor shingles with copper flashings.
To this small chimney flashing replacement. Installation details. The most important part of the roofing process is the installation and attention to details. While 90 percent of the work may be installing large quantities of roofing material such as shingles or roofing membranes. The largest percentage of leaks occur at the flashings, penetrations and transitions. Here are a few examples of Advanced Roofing’s installations. Ridge vent - straight lines A recent laminated asphalt shingle installation on a ranch style house . Nice straight lines on the shingle courses and ridge vent caps. Properly installed power vent with neatly trimmed shingles. The new snow fall shows that the power vent and ridge vent openings were cut properly and are allowing heat to escape the attic. A new aluminum soil stack flashing installed with the new roof. And to the left a newly installed chimney flashing fabricated from copper sheet metal. Copper chimney apron From this photo we can see that there was an ice and water shield type membrane installed around the base of the chimney before the tar paper and shingles were installed. Old caulking has been removed and the mortar joint cut to accept the new flashing. The apron flashing has the proper coverage and is held in place with a cleat secured to the roof, eliminating the need to face nail the apron. A nice touch. Unfortunately, the apron was installed as one piece without a corresponding apron counter flashing. Copper counter flashing The finished copper chimney flashing. The lower counter flashing pieces look fine, but the large finish piece looks a bit off. The installer ran the top of the flashing level to the chimney, but the brick was installed on a slight slope. It would have been a slightly better job if the last counter flashing piece was installed in two pieces following the mortar joint, instead of cutting into the brick. This is more a problem of aesthetics than function and the other end of the chimney that had level bricks turned out much better. Copper counter flashing 2
