Amarco Metal and Asphalt Roofing Co. is a small 1-3 man roofing company serving Porter County and nearby Valparaiso.

Installing primarily asphalt shingle products, Amarco also installs metal roofing and low slope roofing as well as being a full service repair company. Tom Williams, owner and operator, has more than 25 years roofing experience and started his business in 1990, later incorporating as American Metal and Asphalt Roofing in 2005.

Let’s take a look at some examples of Amarco workmanship. But first, take a look at the photo of the trucks and equipment above. Clean and well taken care of equipment is a good sign that the contractor takes pride in his work as well as his tools. Here are a couple of before and after pictures of an initially poorly flashed stone veneer chimney with asphalt shingles. The first picture shows the crew carefully prying up and removing the old shingles and tarred flashing next to the chimney.

The second picture shows nice clean lines on the counter flashing. The color of the painted aluminum matches the new shingles. The old shingles having faded would have been harder to match. I would have liked to see the rear saddle flashing extend past the sides of the chimney another inch or two though. The crew was careful of the existing shingle removal and only had to replace the damaged shingles directly adjacent to the chimney.

AMARCO is also capable of basic carpentry and framing to repair any damaged structural or roof decking required. In the pictures below they are reinforcing an insufficient roof structure that had been sagging under the weight of roofing and snow loads. The original decking was removed, supports installed under the rafters, and new decking installed before installing a new rubber roof.
